With baskets of soil balanced on their heads, three Balinese women ascend the stairs of a performance theater in Ubud, Bali. The graceful stance of the laborers is reminiscent of the dancers who perform there regularly in the evenings.

Thank you, Mark. I also liked the verticality of the scene (the ladies standing tall, the stairs leading upward…)

Lovely images, Tricia! The b&w treatment worked really well. Bali was my R&R destination when I worked with the UN in West Timor and it was in Bali where I saw lady laborers in construction work hauling construction materials in similar baskets from the ground to 2nd or 3rd floor of the building under construction. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Jessie. How long did you work in West Timor? It sounds as though you’ve had such a fascinating and meaningful career.
