Photo du Jour: Peep Hole Overlooking Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik, Croatia is seen through an ancient wall’s peep hole. The walled city is often referred to as “Pearl of the Adriatic,” and it’s no wonder why, given the city’s commanding views and strategic location. The city’s economy was once based on maritime trade.

When I was there several years ago, the locals recounted dramatic tales of defending their homes during the shelling of the city during the Balkan wars.

Amazing shot Tricia! Have you written a post on Croatia?

Hi Madhu, not yet & thanks! That was an excursion I did a few years ago, but it’s certainly deserving of a posting. I’m off to check your site and your latest adventure!

This is stunning! Croatia is at the top of my list of places to go. It almost looks photoshopped in photos because it’s so beautiful!

The world is full of so many gorgeous places to see, but I can see why Croatia is at the top of your list! And, it’s such a photogenic spot that I don’t think much tinkering is required. I am, however, hoping to try out Photoshop someday.
Ankita, many thanks for taking the time to comment! What spots in Croatia interest you?

Very nice perspective. I would like to go there one day.

Oh no! How did this comment get misplaced too? We might be going back to Croatia in a few days, and I was looking through the archives and found your comment, Rachael. If we do go, we’ll likely only pop into Dubrovnik for a day. While it’s a gorgeous city, we’re hoping to find some less-trodden paths. :)
