Photo du Jour: Strolling Silhouette – Prague

Prague is, without a doubt, one of my favorite European cities, thanks to its incredible blend of architectural styles, its sweeping views, and its intriguing history.

As a child, our dear family friend and my first piano teacher, Erna, shared fascinating tales of what life was like in Prague in the 1930s. These anecdotes about her homeland made the so-called Golden City come to life.

This image was captured on a late spring trip in 2009. Though I wish I had been quicker on the snap, so that I could’ve captured the man’s full silhouette, I loved how the sun illuminated building #10 on this quiet, cobbled lane.

Where in the World?

An avid globetrotter who has visited more than 65 countries, she has a penchant for off-season travel. Tricia has learned that travel’s greatest gift is not sightseeing, rather it is the interactions with people. Some of her most memorable experiences have been sharing a bottle of champagne with distant French cousins in Lorraine, learning how to milk goats in a sleepy Bulgarian village, and ringing in the Vietnamese New Year with a Hanoi family. She welcomes any opportunity to practice French and German, and she loves delving into a place’s history and artisanal food scene. A former education administrator and training specialist, Tricia has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in international relations. She and her husband, Shawn, married in the ruins of a snowy German castle. They’ve been known to escape winter by basing themselves in coastal Croatia or Southeast Asia. Her writing has appeared in Fodor’s Travel, Frommer’s, and International Living.

  1. No I think you got it just right, I might have gone with less of the man, maybe just an arm, taking her around the corner to……………where?

    1. Greetings, Elaine! It is pleasure to connect with you, and thank you for letting me know that you’ve enjoyed peeking at my blog. Since you are so passionate about writing, I think you would enjoy Prague very much. Behind each twisty, cobbled lane lurk so many stories. Prague came alive for me long before I first voyaged there, thanks to my wonderful piano teacher and friend, featured here:
