Photo du Jour: Strolling Silhouette – Prague

Posted by

,

Prague is, without a doubt, one of my favorite European cities, thanks to its incredible blend of architectural styles, its sweeping views, and its intriguing history.

As a child, our dear family friend and my first piano teacher, Erna, shared fascinating tales of what life was like in Prague in the 1930s. These anecdotes about her homeland made the so-called Golden City come to life.

This image was captured on a late spring trip in 2009. Though I wish I had been quicker on the snap, so that I could’ve captured the man’s full silhouette, I loved how the sun illuminated building #10 on this quiet, cobbled lane.

Where in the World?

About the author

Hi! My name is Tricia Mitchell. I delight in telling stories about my slow travels through more than 65 countries. Some of my highlights have included sharing meals with locals in Armenia, Cambodia, and Tunisia; sipping sparkling wine with French cousins in Alsace; milking goats in a sleepy Bulgarian village; and training with a Japanese mine-clearance team in Laos. My husband, Shawn, and I are based in France’s Loire Valley.

No I think you got it just right, I might have gone with less of the man, maybe just an arm, taking her around the corner to……………where?

Thanks, Andrew! I’m missing Europe’s Old World architecture right now, so it’s fun to immerse myself in it via some imagery. :)

This is lovely. I think it’s better for not having the other figure. It makes one wonder and I love an image that suggests a story.

Greetings, Elaine! It is pleasure to connect with you, and thank you for letting me know that you’ve enjoyed peeking at my blog. Since you are so passionate about writing, I think you would enjoy Prague very much. Behind each twisty, cobbled lane lurk so many stories. Prague came alive for me long before I first voyaged there, thanks to my wonderful piano teacher and friend, featured here:
